The car had mechanical fuel-injection.

4.Hariharan's off-white Jaguar XK120 and Hajee's white XK140 were beauties that had such beautiful lines.

5.The gentlemen from the Pioneer Garage in Ulsoor had 2 hand-built cars--the Hanuman special and the TAIFAR special.
Taifar was for FIAT spelled backwards, (as it had Fiat mechanicals) with the owner's initials A,R added at the end.

6.Kumar Siddanna raced in a light blue Triumph TR3 against a couple of MGA's and Fiat Spyders.

7.V.N.Shankar raced his Studebaker Commander a V-8, and would race his Hindustan Ambassador in the next race.

8.Race starts were the Le-Mans type with drivers sprinting across the track to cars parked in herringbone formation.Sumant Sivasankarnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194791698255013402.post-90717725094892571272014-10-22T12:04:11.948+02:002014-10-22T12:04:11.948+02:00Hi Shivu grate digging in webs article grate show ...Hi Shivu grate digging in webs article grate show B.P.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01772378883606487237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194791698255013402.post-69375140705544487082014-10-22T10:12:27.896+02:002014-10-22T10:12:27.896+02:00Wow! In fact one should really say he ranks among the top of all time great sports persons in the world. No one has served Indian cricket as Sachin has. He has truly been an Ambassador for India and Indian Cricket. He has been an inspiration for generations of sportsmen not just cricketers... The West German hockey fed chief was a former player who had played against Dhyan Chand in Berlin. Naturally curious, the Indian player asked the chief how Dhyan Chand would have done against the German team of the day.

His reply was something like 'we weren't very good in those days, but even if Dhyan Chand played today, he would have scored two or three goals against us'.

To add a little perspective, Germany won the gold in 1972 playing nine matches and conceding five goals.
Snoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194791698255013402.post-40925744530878646712013-08-29T16:38:20.291+02:002013-08-29T16:38:20.291+02:00The same quiz forum had a question about the score...The same quiz forum had a question about the scorer of USA's only goal in their 1-24 defeat to India in 1932. The expected answer was Dhyan Chand, who played for USA for a short while ! (The American goal was actually scored by William Boddinton). There is another story about the match, more difficult to refute, which says that America scored the goal while the Indian goalkeeper Richard Allen was busy behind the goalposts, signing autographs.

There is a stat quoted in some sources today that Dhyan Chand scored 6 goals against Germany in the 1936 final. The actual number seems to be three. There is another popular story that he played part of the match barefoot. The Leni Reifenstahl film may have some evidence if he did.

I wonder what is the original source of the Hitler offer. Even if he did say it (which I seriously doubt) it matters nothing because Hitler is just about the biggest liar in history and he could have some reason (like insulting the Brits) for saying it.
Snoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194791698255013402.post-12266506217716983562011-07-24T06:02:28.931+02:002011-07-24T06:02:28.931+02:00it reflect how passionate u r :p the details of wh...it reflect how passionate u r :p the details of what happened 15 yrs ago presented as if happened yesterday :p Rahul dravid is my most favourite cricketer (not 2nd best ) and way he carries himself and proves his worth is truely inspiring :p thank you rajan for writing this one :p5 yrs ago presented as if happened yesterday :p Rahul dravid is my most favourite cricketer (not 2nd best ) and way he carries himself and proves his worth is truely inspiring :p thank you rajan for writing this one :pRiteshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12809417398963210935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194791698255013402.post-74662667719226014092011-04-29T17:03:30.311+02:002011-04-29T17:03:30.311+02:00Thanks Archie :-)Thanks Archie :-)Rajan Thambehallihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473322184845547717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194791698255013402.post-52143534746265005162011-04-28T19:13:51.637+02:002011-04-28T19:13:51.637+02:00All i can say is i am proud of you :DAll i can say is i am proud of you :Doptimismattheheightshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13877890026302843113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3194791698255013402.post-77993422710024950082011-04-05T21:39:57.777+02:002011-04-05T21:39:57.777+02:00Since it's your blog , i allow you to mention ...Since it's your blog , i allow you to mention only Kumble and leave out one certain Mr. Ganguly or one .
